People & Places Originally Published NO January/February 2010 Vladimir Badmaev has accepted a joint appointment as director of scientific and medical affairs for P.L. Thomas (Morristown, NJ) and Polifenoles Naturales (Las Palmas, Gran Canaria Island, Spain). Badmaev will lead new ingredient development for a strategic alliance between the two companies, as well as for other P.L. Thomas initiatives. Previously, Badmaev spent 15 years with Sabinsa Corp. He is the author/coauthor of more than 70 scientific and popular scientific articles, 13 books, 13 U.S. and international patents, and 9 successful IND applications with FDA. He was the 2009 recipient of the Thomas Alva Edison Award. The Cognis Group (Cincinnati) has appointed Gregory E. Pflum vice president of its nutrition and health business unit in North America. Pflum has spent 20 years at Cognis, most recently as chief administrative officer and vice president of supply chain operations. Embria Health Sciences (Ankeny, IA) has hired Doug Reyes as regional sales manager. Reyes's territory will be the western United States. He has 15 years of experience in dietary supplement ingredient sales, including senior sales positions with Helm and Kemin Health. Symrise AG (Holzminden, Germany) has appointed Hans Holger Gliewe the new head of its flavor and nutrition division. Previously, Gliewe was in charge of the company's entire flavor and nutrition business in Latin America. Parker Booth is the new CEO of Organic Alliance Inc. (Salinas, CA), a provider of USDA-certified organic crop, as well as fair trade and conventional fresh foods. Christopher White has been named director of global supply chain development. Meghan Connell is the new director of Gift of Hope Inc., a charity started by National Enzyme Co. (Forsyth, MO). Gift of Hope (www.giftofhopeinc.org) has been active in Missouri's Taney County for years, including managing My Neighbor's Pantry, which feeds approximately 1800 people per month. Greg St. Clair has joined Fusion Formulations (Phoenix) as vice president of sales. Most recently, St. Clair was vice president of sales and marketing for Arizona Nutritional Supplements Inc., a dietary supplement brand marketer. He was also vice president of sales and marketing for contract manufacturer Herbally Yours Inc. Jarrow Formulas (Los Angeles) has named Trish Mahon director of marketing. For the past 10 years, Mahon was president of Outsource Marketing, a direct-to-consumer marketing agency. Franz Josef Konert is the new CEO of Gelita AG (Eberbach, Germany). Previously, he was general manager of Melitta Haushaltsprodukte GmbH and Co. Lisa Hammers has been promoted to a sales representative position at American Laboratories Inc. (Omaha, NE). |
